The First Months Shape Everything
Puppies learn fastest before about four months, and habits formed then tend to last. The guides below cover the jobs that matter most: where to pee, how to rest, what to chew and how to meet the world safely.
Little moments
Small paws. Big lessons.
Puppy training rarely looks dramatic. It is a sit before a treat, a calm nap in the crate, a first wobbly walk on a leash. These frames capture that stage.

About the guide
Puppies only. Plain answers.
New puppy owners get flooded with advice, much of it written for places with cold winters and no beach rules. This guide focuses on puppies only and on the conditions that shape them here: heat, storms, lanais, condo living and strict beach bans.
Each town page covers local puppy-relevant details such as paw park age limits, where leashed dogs may walk and what wildlife to watch for. Those notes come from public sources, not advertising.

Good questions
Before you begin.
How much does puppy training cost around Sarasota?
General estimates run from about $75 to $150 per private lesson, $150 to $350 for a starter package and $100 to $200 for an in-home visit. Trainers set their own prices.
What age can puppy training start?
At home, on the first day. Name, potty spot and crate rest can all begin at 8 weeks. Ask your vet before visiting shared dog areas.
Can my puppy go to Sarasota County beaches?
Only at the dog beach at Brohard Paw Park in Venice. Siesta Key and Longboat Key beaches are closed to dogs, and county paw parks list a minimum age of 4 months.
When is it safe to socialize my puppy with other dogs?
Ask your vet. Timing depends on your puppy's vaccine series and health. Meanwhile, carried outings and calm sights from a distance still count.
Is puppy biting a sign of aggression?
Usually not. Mouthing is normal puppy behavior. Steady redirection and enough sleep help, and a qualified trainer can assess anything that worries you.
Can I ask for a trainer through this site?
Not yet. Nobody is taking requests from this site and there is no form. The availability page explains where things stand.
